Wilsons fame was surpassed by the U.S. during 2014, when she landed a role as a character on Showtimes The Affair. In the show, Wilson was Alison Lockhart who is a young woman who is troubled and comes with a dark past. Lockhart falls for the love of her life, Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded a Golden Globe award for Best Actress for a Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson stated in British Vogue: "I love being able to portray characters in two perspectives." Noah considers Alison as a confident, unpretentious and sexually attractive way. The way she sees herself in a totally different way. On the inside she's not sure and is looking to be a part of the background. The actress added "I think America is a moral society and very judgmental. What happens on the show looks horrifying." Wilson's departure of the show outraged a lot of her viewers in the year 2018. But, she was cryptic about further details. I did want to leave but I'm not allowed talk about why she stated during a CBS This Morning interview in August of 2018. Wilson is currently shifting her attention to the world of film. She was in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing Who Lives In The House in 2016, and later in the rom-com with a sci-fi twist How to Talk to Girls at Parties in which she played the mysterious PT Stella. In addition to adding more genre of horror to her film credits, she's slated to star in the British adaptation to film to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller which is based on a novel by author Sarah Waters. Wilson will also be executive producing The film.
